Easy Way to Setup 20 MacBooks

November 6th, 2008 by Brandon

I have 20 brand new MacBooks that I need to set up for a client.  What is the quickest and easiest way to set them up?

Thanks for the question.  Without a doubt the easiest way to set them up is to use Mike Bombich’s NetRestore.

If you’ve never used NetRestore, you have to run it from a server (of a MacBook set up as a server) and make a master image that has everything (files, apps, settings, etc) that you want cloned to all of your other new MacBooks.

As for setup, there are a lot of NetRestore guides including a great one at Bombich’s site.  Good luck and let me know if you run into any trouble.

Can’t browse to Phaser 8560 MFP

November 6th, 2008 by Brandon

I have a Xerox Phaser 8560 MFP that is a high speed scanner.  When I scan pages they will go in, but I can’t browse to my IP and retrieve them.  Please help!d

Xerox Phaser printers and multi function scanners are notorious not only for having fusers that go bad quickly, but also for not enabling CenterWare IS by default.

On the 8560 control panel, click System and navigate to Connection Setup > Network Setup > TCP/IP Setup.

The last option on the list is CenterWare IS.  Turn it on and check our browser again!
