HP 49.0e00 error and other 49 errors
January 10th, 2006 by Brandon
I have just had an experience with a HP 5550dn Color Laserjet printer, one of the large printers.
This printer stopped printing and showed a 49.0E00 error. Nothing different was being printed, and there was no indication before the failure.
After spending time with HP product tech support they told me that the 49 errors are a generic error that could mean a lot of things. However, they generally mean a bad print job.
In the end I had to go around to the computers that are set up to print to the 5550dn over the network and clear their print queues. Another way would have been to restart all of the computers that could connect to it.
Hope it helps.

On macs running 10.4.x, this error typically occurs if the filename of the print job is too long.
