Downgrading ARD 2 to Apple Remote Desktop 1.2

January 12th, 2006 by Brandon

Here are a short list of instructions on how to move Apple Remote Desktop 2.0 down to ARD 1.2.

To move a computer ARD 2 back to 1.x:

Run this command -
sudo /System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app
/Contents/Resources/kickstart -uninstall -files -settings -prefs

To set up ARD 1 Master

Load ARD 1 Admin on client
Load OSXVNC (free) – have to keep this running at all times
Set a password for the VNC server and turn it on

Go to system prefs
Then sharing
Then Firewall
Click New
Open up ports 5900 – 5902
Turn firewall on

On ARD 2 make sure not to enter a log in screen but enter the password
entered.

Be careful whenever using the “Sudo” command.
