“Cannot launch the First Run Installer. Reinstall Microsoft Outlook”

September 4th, 2005 by Brandon

I tried to open Outlook today and I was told that it was in the trash. I took a folder that the program was in, out of the trash and it is now telling me that it “Cannot launch the First Run Installer. Reinstall Microsoft Outlook”. I can get to my email on Internet Explorer but not Outlook. I restarted my machine but that didn’t work. Any ideas?

It appears from this email that Microsoft Outlook (which runs on OS 9) has many issues still. I have had many problems with Outlook not communicating with the Exchange server, and sometimes refuses to open until I restart Classic (OS 9).

For this particular problem, it seems that the path has been broken. The best way to fix this problem is to try to put the folder that was in the trash back into it’s original location (probably Hard Drive > Applications).

If that still does not work, delete or uninstall Microsoft Outlook and reinstall it like Mac OS X recommends.
